MLB.com’s Trade Winds update says the Crew is interested in the A’s Joe Kennedy:
A’s: The A’s continue to be an active team, making a move prior to Monday’s game with Anaheim that would indicate a trade is forthcoming. The Athletics designated outfielder Bobby Kielty for assignment, which means that he may be traded soon, and there are whispers that the Red Sox are interested in the switch-hitting outfielder. The A’s are also listening to offers on left-handed reliever Joe Kennedy, and three National League teams — the Dodgers, Brewers and Phillies — appear to be interested.
The 28 year-old lefty starter-converted-to-reliever would complement the four righties in the rotation, especially Dave Bush and Claudio Vargas, who tend to only last four or five innings per start. Still, Kennedy offers less than most of the Royals relievers: 3-8, 4.45, with 42 K’s to 46 BB’s.
I’d like Doug Melvin to read this article.
Lastly, Heller & Murphy on Madison’s ESPN 1070 AM speculated today that J.J. Hardy and Johnny Estrada are both being benched for Tuesday’s game due to lack of hustle on the basepaths last night.
