ESPN’s Ivan Maisel has named University of South Carolina running back Marcus Lattimore and wide receiver Alshon Jeffery as college football’s “top run-receive” combo in 2011. Who can argue this?
Lattimore and Jeffery are the best run-receive threat in college football this season. Just look at these numbers: Lattimore -1,197 yards and 17 touchdowns and Jeffery’s – 88 catches for 1,517 yards and nine touchdowns.
Either can hurt you and a opposing defense can not try to stop one as it opens up the game for the other. All they need is quarterback Stephen Garcia to come back, which if you believe the rumors could be next week. Garcia will be under center for USC and his job is either hand-off to Lattimore or find Jeffery in space. Should be pretty simple for him to manage the offense and limit mistakes. If he does that and both Lattimore and Jeffery can live up to the hype in 2011, then look out Atlanta as here comes the Gamecocks once again to fight for the SEC Championship.
