Philadelphia Flyers top prospect Scott Laughton continued his hot streak on Friday for the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, the Flyers AHL affiliate.
Laughton, an AHL rookie, has been nothing short of impressive for the Phantoms this season. Coming into Saturday night’s contest against the HersheyBears, Laughton had six points in four goals and and two assists.
On Saturday, the Bears were able to keep him out of the box score for the first three periods. However, the 20-year old forward found a way to put one in the back of the net in overtime to give the Phantoms their 4th victory of the season.
As pointed out by the Phantoms official site, Laughton’s has yet to score a goal during five-on-five play. This season, Laughton has scored two power play goals, one short-handed and two on even strength 4-on-4 and 3-on-3 play. Laughton’s overtime winner came with just under two minutes remaining.
The goal gives Laughton his fifth of the season in five games and seven points as he also has two assists. Laughton who was teammates with Shayne Gostisbehere before “Ghost” got called up to the Flyers on Friday could be looking at a promotion of himself sometime in the future.
