Well, this was inevitable. With Doc Rivers coming back and signing a long-term deal, Lawrence Frank had to look elsewhere for a head coaching job. And since Detroit was really the only job left (sorry, Minnesota) it's no surprise that Lawrence got this gig.
Congrats to him. He deserved it. I think he'll do fine in Detroit… even though he won't pull a Thibs/Bulls resurrection. Detroit is a MUCH bigger mess.
