The weekly honors are out from the Big East Conference and we do find two members of the UConn Huskies football team who were honored.
UConn linebacker Lawrence Wilson was named the Big East Defensive Player of the Week while running back Jordan Todman was named to the Honor Roll.
Wilson had 11 tackles including one sack in UConn’s 30-28 win over the Pittsburgh Panthers last Thursday. Wilson leads the Big East in tackles with 95 and has recorded double-digit tackles in five games this season.
Todman was named to the Big East Honor Roll after rushing for a career-high 222 yards on a career-high 37 carries. While it was head coach Randy Edsall’s gutsy call on 4th and 1 at his own 19 to go for it, it was Todman and the offensive line who got the job done that helped UConn to the upset win.
UConn is back in action on Saturday night when they travel to the Carrier Dome in Syracuse, NY to take on the Syracuse Orange at 7 p.m. The game will be televised nationally on ESPNU.
