It was a wild night at the Golden 1 Center for Kings fans as they saw one of the best games of the season from their Kings come down to a heartbreaking buzzer beater tip-in from Rudy Gobert. This 110-109 loss marked their fourth straight at home.
Gobert’s game-winner was initially ruled off but changed upon further review.

With that said, Ty Lawson was the leading scorer for the Kings last night with 19 points on 7-of-13 shooting from the field. Apart from his scoring, this was the best game for Lawson in the course of this four game losing skid, making him the Reno Dodge Power Performer.
Lawson showcased excellent court vision and the ability to find mismatches in a hurry. In this video, you will see that Lawson knew Anthony Tolliver had George Hill on him, making it an easy opportunity to get a shot off.
Gobert is one of the premier shot blockers in the league, just shy of three a game. Clearly, Lawson would be unsuccessful in attempting to drive to the basket while Gobert was on him. It made sense for him to dish it off to the roller instead and that’s exactly what he did in these next two videos.
By having great court vision, Lawson can get his guys more involved in the game, which is how he finished with five assists on the night.
The Jazz did a great job in covering all of the shooters the Kings would have on the floor, but with Lawson’s speed and quickness, he can easily get a shot off on anyone, just like he showcased here:
Joe Ingles was left on an island during this play, and he simply didn’t get the help that he needed. As Lawson began driving to the basket, Ingles immediately got too close to him.
As mentioned earlier, Lawson is extremely quick and he uses that to his ability on a nightly basis. Not to mention Lawson had Buddy Hield open on the left wing as well, so clearly he had many options during this play.
The Kings, however, are still fighting for that eighth seed in the Western Conference. They are currently three games behind the Nuggets, but the confidence is still high in the locker room.
Willie Cauley-Stein told reporters after the game that he would make sure he kicks it into a higher gear to make that late push.
“It was good,” veteran Arron Afflalo said. “I was extremely proud of my teammates. Everybody was engaged on both ends of the court. We played with the purpose to win tonight.”
The Kings will be in Denver tonight taking on the Nuggets and Serbian star Nikola Jokic.
