Philadelphia- This past weekend was supposed to be a time to shine for the NFL with it being Hall of Fame weekend. That, of course, went down in flames and turned into a bash Philadelphia Fans weekend.
It all started with Marvin Harrison, a native Philadelphian, who ripped his hometown fans in his induction speech. “I’m from Philadelphia, the home of the Eagles,” Harrison said. “If you get the coin toss wrong in Philadelphia, they want to trade you the first thing on Monday morning, so I wasn’t used to that in Indianapolis.” They only boo when they see you dogging it. Hey Marvin those in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones.
Then, after the debacle with the actual Hall of Fame game, Shawn O’Hara stated that it was a good thing that it was the Packers who were playing instead of the Eagles because their fans are more domicile. He should be more concerned about the incompetence of the NFL to prepare the field for the game. The fans who showed up to the game didn’t find out officially until almost 8 PM. They did the shield wrong in a big way.
People should look at other fan bases as well.
In every fan base there are jerks who act out in just plain stupidity and those chuckleheads usually get what they deserve in the end. A majority of the Eagles/ Philadelphia fans are passionate and very knowledgeable about the game. Former athletes have stated that the fans know the game and all that they want is someone who hustles on every play. Just look at the love the city showed for Reggie White. Thousands showed up during a weekday to show love for him and convince the Birds to re-sign him.
Philly is a great sports town and has many knowledgeable fans. Don’t let the actions of a few shape the opinion of this great fan base.
