The Redskins announced that Hankerson tore his LCL and would have surgery Thursday. Surgeons discovered that Hankerson's ACL was also damaged and needed repair.

The Redskins placed him on the Injured Reserve list. Joshua Morgan, inactive for the Eagles game, will suit up in Hankerson's place.

Hog Heaven readers know we use a 6-7-8 yardstick to measure the No. 2 receiver's performance. That is shorthand for 60 catches, seven touchdowns, 800 yards.

Hankerson was trending 48 receptions, five touchdowns and 600 yards on the season. He averaged 12.5 yards per receptions, below his career average of 13.3 y/r. We hoped to see Hankerson hit the benchmarks in his third season and to be over 15 y/c.

Like everything else, Robert Griffin's injury hurt Hankerson's performance. We had every reason to expect the team to carry Robert for awhile. They did not and that's the story of the season.
