Leadership? Josh Freeman shows why Bucs were able to let Derrick Brooks go.I have heard more than a few well respeted people around the area get on Dominik/Morris for getting rid of Derrick Brooks. The theory was when you got rid of all the veterans, you got rid of the leaders, and there was no one for the young players to fall in behind. I think the Bucs knew that, and let the young players do what all good young players do…find leaders amongst themselves. It didn’t really happen too much last year, but in this season, as you’ve heard, Josh Freeman stood up and publicly cried out against the off field meyham caused by Geno Heyes and others. “We need to take care of business off the field,” Freeman said. “It doesn’t speak well of the type of coach Raheem (Morris) is. Raheem is a great coach. Everybody has the utmost respect for Raheem, and the talk’s really just been, ‘We’ve got to stop screwing this guy over by getting in trouble off the field.’ “..said Freeman. Whenever you see a great team, you always see leaders and leadership present. Brooks, Sapp, Nickerson, all were leaders. They really didnt have anyone there before them, THEY BECAME the leaders. Just as more will come from this crowd. Just not until THEY are ready to.
