It’s no secret that LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony are close friends, as the two have played alongside each other in the Olympics, and it seemed like, at one point in their careers, they’d be suiting up for the same NBA team.
The two are banana boat bros, after all, and they’ve hung out a number of times off the court. They’ve sipped wine and mixed it up in the past, with James also being seen leaving a NYC steakhouse after dining with Melo on Monday night.
As such, Lakers rumors are running high, and there’s a lot of talk about the team possibly signing him in the near future. James was asked about it, and he had this to say.
“We’ll see,” James said. “I don’t run the team. Obviously, there are some things that need to be worked out on both sides. But I’ve always wanted to play along with ‘Melo, and if the opportunity presents itself, it’ll be great. So, we’ll see what happens.”
Last month in Orlando, LeBron said it wasn’t a question for him if Carmelo Anthony should join the Lakers. Tonight, he said he would love if the opportunity presents itself, and “obviously there’s some things that need to be worked out on both sides.” pic.twitter.com/jXyetKRauj

James kind of does run the teams he’s played on, he just does so behind the scenes, with the help of Rich Paul/his camp. Let’s be honest: If James campaigns for the Lakers to sign Melo, then they likely will.
