Amateur MMA has been growing at a staggering pace here in North Texas. From great cards thrown by Southwest MMA and Chopshop Xtreme Cagefighting, it is safe to say that aspiring young MMA fighters are finding it more and more accessible to ply their trade in front of their hometown fans. For fans of MMA, this too comes as welcomed news as the differences between amateur MMA and its professional counterpart are minimal at best. All of which creates a fantastic night of fights as most casual observers would never know the difference between and amateur event and that of a professional one.
On May 28, the United States Amateur Combat Association (USACA) will hold its first ever Legacy Amateur Series here in North Texas. The 18-bout event will take place at the Dallas House of Blues. Formerly operating under the “Lonestar Beatdown” banner, the USACA has since rebranded its ballyhooed amateur fight cards to that of “Legacy Amateur Series” which will serve as a feeder system to their outstanding Legacy Fighting Championship promotion. Keenly aware of the numerous talent here in the DFW Metroplex, there is little doubt that we will begin to see more USACA cards taking place in the very near future.
