The Red Sox had won 5 times straight against the Angels and we had another pitcher’s duel on the mound on Tuesday night. Lester vs. Haren. Lester would have to be on his game if he wanted to make it 6 straight against the Halos. Lester went down early with a solo HR in the 2nd to Trumbo. However, the Sox bats had his back. In the bottom of the 6th, Gonzo got an RBI bringing Ellsbury in to tie the game. It was followed up by a Papi hit and then a Lowrie RBI hit to take the lead. Lester was dealing so that was all he would need. He pitched 7 strong, striking out ELEVEN batters. He was pulled after 7 even though he was only at 93 pitches. I imagine it was because his last couple of outings he’s gone well over 100 pitches. Bard had a nice 1-2-3 8th inning…and then the Sox got back to work. In the bottom of the 8th, the Sox hit 3 HRs…Gonzo, Papi and Scutaro. Papelbon was already up and warm, so even with a 7-1 lead he took the mound. Pap allowed 2 runs to score, however we still coasted to a 7-3 win. All in all…a great great game.
