There was a video of Peter Gammons calling to Comcast SportsNet today where Gammons went on to say how he “senses” that Lester is “so unhappy here [Boston].” First of all, I’m not sure why we need video of people talking and listening to people talk on the radio, but none the less. Secondly, I am getting increasingly annoyed by media members saying that they “sense” something or just talking about the issues with the Sox with no real substance. To me, it’s just pandering and gossip.
Also, I also “sense” that Gammons got his “sense” about Lester from reading some of the rants he had on twitter today responding to angry fans. Twitter is an interesting thing. I follow all of the Red Sox players that I know of from the minors to the majors. While I like getting to see tweets from athletes I follow, I also think that having 24/7 access to the athletes and the athletes having 24/7 access to the fans isn’t always a good thing. I do like seeing some fight, passion and vigor from Lester in his tweets today, however if I was his agent or the Red Sox front office, I might disagree.
Anyways, Lester caught wind of Gammons’ comments of him being “so unhappy” playing for the Red Sox and his took to twitter with this response:
