Let’s Put A Bow On 2014

We’ve got ridiculously high standards in Cardinal Nation.

I’m sure if you took an informal poll of your friends, family or co-workers and just asked them to rate the Cardinals 2014 season on a scale of 1 – 10 (10 being the best season ever), you’d end up around a 7ish.

Heck, that might be generous.

But the fact of the matter is unlike the other teams you root for, the Cardinals actually deliver some emotional dividends.

Just yesterday, the Rams head coach Jeff Fisher held his required year-end press conference where he said his offensive coordinator was #outstanding and that he feels the team made a bunch of progress.

The Rams were  6-10 and finished in last place in the NFC West. It was Fisher’s worst season as the Rams coach.

The Blues? They took a roadie to Nashville and gave up a season high 47 shots as a nice welcome back present to goalie Brian Elliot who had missed over a month with an injury.

They lost.

After a good start, the Blues are 5-4-1 in their last 10 and in danger of falling further down the bottom half of the Western Conference standings. Feeling real good about their chances against the Blackhawks in April?

Point is? The Cardinals are the most popular team in the city because they actually come through sometimes.

And even though we can mourn a lost opportunity for them to capture another World Series berth and/or win, 2014 was full of some kick-ass moments.

So as we head into 2015, let’s leave 2014 by watching this one more time. And be thankful for what we got as opposed to being angry about what we didn’t.
