Brown will make $925,000 in the first year and $975,000 in the second year. Signing Brown is a low risk, high potential reward deal. He has great speed and is flexible. LIGHTNING RE-SIGN FORWARD J.T. BROWN

TAMPA BAY – The Tampa Bay Lightning have re-signed forward J.T. Brown to a two-year, one-way contract today, vice president and general manager Steve Yzerman announced. 

Brown, 5-foot-10, 172 pounds, appeared in 63 games with the Lightning last season, posting four goals and 19 points while averaging 13:02 in ice time per game.  He ranked fourth among Tampa Bay rookies for assists and points.  Brown also played in all four Stanley Cup Playoff games in 2014, notching two assists.  He was tied for the team lead for helpers and ranked tied for fourth on the team for points.  Brown also saw his average ice time increase to 14:59 during the postseason.

The Rosemount, Minnesota native has played in 68 career NHL games, all with Tampa Bay, with four goals and 20 points. He made his NHL debut with the Lightning on March 31, 2012 against the Winnipeg Jets at the Tampa Bay Times Forum and recorded his first NHL point (assist) on April 7 at Winnipeg.

Brown skated in 81 career games with the Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs prior to joining the professional ranks, collecting 40 goals and 84 points to go along with 109 penalty minutes. In 2011, Brown was a member of the Bulldogs team that captured the NCAA Frozen Four Championship, being named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player.

The 23-year-old was originally signed by the Lightning as an undrafted free agent on March 28, 2012.
