The Lightning announced that they have recalled forwards Joel Vermin and Michael Bournival from their AHL affiliate Syracuse Crunch on Wednesday.
Vermin got a long look in this year’s training camp and was one of the last cuts. He’s off to a great start in Syrcause where he has six goals and five assists in 17 games. He’s tied for the team lead in goals, first for power-play goals, and fifth for points. The 5’11 Swiss winger appeared in three preseason games in the fall and GM Steve Yzerman praised his outstanding effort. Vermin previously appeared in six NHL goals with the Bolts, registering one assist.
Michael Bournival was free agent signing for the Lightning this summer. The 5’11” left wing has 5 goals and 6 assists with the Crunch so far. He brings some NHL experience as he previously played 89 games with the Montreal Canadiens.
Tampa Bay has been plagued with injuries through the early part of the season, the most recent being a lower-body injury to Ryan Callahan who missed last night’s game in Columbus.
