The Tampa Bay Lightning have recalled (emergency) forward Mike Angelidis from the Syracuse Crunch after the horrible news hit this morning. According to the Lightning: Cedric Paquette (upper body) is out 10-14 days, Ondrej Palat (lower body) is out 2-3 weeks and Braydon Coburn (lower body) is out 4-6 weeks. All were injured during the Lightning’s OT win vs. Montreal on Tuesday night.
J.T. Brown will be back tonight. The impending return of defenseman Matt Carle (Saturday) will help.
Angelidis has played seven NHL games in nine seasons, all with Tampa Bay. He has 33 points (17g, 16a) in 57 games this season with the Crunch. He had 33 points in 75 games last year.
Angelidis will be on the ice in Boston for the morning skate.
This will certainly give others an opportunity to shine, namely Jonathan Drouin and Vladislav Namestnikov.
No other callups are planned.
