Brett Connolly recalled

It started out as a quiet NHL trade deadline day for all the teams and General Managers. It didn’t stay that way and the Lightning were major players in the process.

Aside from acquiring goalie Ben Bishop from Ottawa  for forward Cory Conacher and a fourth round draft pick (read the details here), the  Bolts recalled forwards Dana Tyrell and Brett Connolly from Syracuse.

The 20 year old Connolly has skated in 67 games for the Crunch this season, scoring 27 goals and accumulating 57 points. Eight of his 27 goals have been on the power play. Last year Connolly appeared in 68 games for TampaBay and had four goals, 15 assists and 30 penalty minutes.

Tyrell was recalled before the 3:00 pm trade deadline to maintain the 18 player minimum and cannot be optioned back to Syracuse this season. Connolly can be sent back to the Crunch to help them during the AHL playoffs.

Tampa Bay also reassigned forwards Mike Angelidis and Ondrej Palat accompanied by defenseman Andrej Sustr and goalie Cedrick Desjardins to the Crunch.

Although defenseman Radko Gudas and forwards Richard Panik and Tyler Johnson won’t return yet to the Crunch, they will all be eligible for that team’s playoffs.
