Game 7 of the game between Detroit and Tampa will be played this evening, which is great for them. Round 2 finally starts on Thursday, which is great for everyone else. The first games of the second round feature the Rangers and Caps, who have been off for 5 and 2 nights respectively. Calgary and Anaheim will also play Thursday night, after layoffs of 4 and 7 nights, respectively.
I imagine the Red Wings or Lightning will play the Canadiens on Friday night, while the Wild and Blackhawks will also start their series Friday night. At that point, Minnesota will have been off for 4 nights (despite a 6 game seies!) while the Blackhawks will have been off for 5. Montreal will be well rested for the winner of the Detroit-Tampa series, after having 4 nights of their own off.
Basically, what this all goes to point to is that there hasn’t been much hockey on my TV lately, and it will be nice if the Red Wings and Lightning can wrap it up so everyone else could play.
