The NHL may be poised to take a break for the Winter Olympics, but the Lightning will keep celebrating the game locally this weekend with Hockey Day In Tampa Bay. The Tampa Bay Times Forum will open its doors on Sunday February 9th for an event that will highlight high school and a sled hockey game with some fun extras. A used equipment sale will go on throughout the proceedings. There is a $5 suggested donation at the door with the funds going to benefit community hockey programs in the Tampa Bay area.

Doors are scheduled to open at 2:30. A Lightning Conference game featuring all-star high school players will start at 3 pm. Lightning alumni Dave Andreychuk and Brian Bradley will serve as the captains for the teams.  At 4:45 the Lightning sled hockey team will play a game with Andreychuk, Bradley, Jassen Cullimore, Chris Kontos, and Chris Dingman. The Lightning Sled Hockey team won a National Championship title in 2012 and has two athletes competing in the 2014 Olympics in Sochi.

At 6:15 pm, the top two local high school teams will play in The Lightning Cup Finals. This game will also be features on Bright House Sports Network.
