The Tampa Bay Lightning held nine draft picks, with at least one in every round and two picks in the fourth and sixth rounds in the 2015 NHL draft. Tonight, the Bolts had one first round pick and traded it..

The Lightning traded the 28th pick to the New York Islanders for the number 33 and number 72 pick. The Lightning go without a first-round draft pick for the first time since 2007.

Tampa Bay will have ten picks tomorrow. They will have two second rounders, two third rounders, two fourth rounders, one fifth rounder, two sixth rounders and one seventh round pick tomorrow. The Draft resumes Saturday at 10 a.m. with rounds two through seven.

“We think picking at 28, there’s a group of players who we think we’ll be able to get moving back five spots and then picking up another pick,” Bolts GM Steve Yzerman said. “That’s the way it plays out. Anytime we can pick up an extra draft choice, we try to do that.”
