Lights coming on for Gerald McCoy!

Lights coming on for Gerald McCoy!In this post Microwave (which is no longer fast enough for us), 50Mb per second download, 1080P society we live in where a blog isnt fast enough to get you your news, People were starting to second guess the Bucs picking of Gerald McCoy. No laugh if you must, because it is funny. Week 6 and the term Bust started to get used. It’s funny because now 5 weeks later, we’re getting the exact recipe we hoped for at the beginning of the season; Gerald McCoy and Brian Price starting to click around late mid season, and finish strong giving us some excitement going into 2011. A few weeks ago McCoy was turning our heads with some better play and penetration. If you dont hear an offensive lineman’s name during a contest, that’s a good thing. It means he’s not holding, not tripping, not false starting! Don’t hear a defensive lineman’s name for three hours and its a different story all together! It means there is no penetration, no run stoppage, in short, no nothing in technical terms, and thats what was happening to our first round draft pick. The last two weeks have been entirely different scenarios however. Two weeks ago against the 49ers McCoy got his first technical sack by getting two half sacks. Against Baltimore however, it all came together for Gerald McCoy. He got his first in the 2nd quarter, then another one for good measure. This against a pretty good Offensive line in the Baltimore Ravens. McCoy was given a solo radio show on the Buccaneers radio network, a risky move considering if he didnt produce there could have been a lot of dead radio waves. But McCoy is a very spiritual man, and his faith is what has kept him above water in the trying times this year. Instead of trying, the Bucs defensive tackle who has been compared, perhaps unfairly, to our future hall of famer No.99 Warren Sapp on many occasions, has been DOING. He already has matched Sapp’s rookie stats of 3 sacks in 1995. And while Warren was playing in a different system that he would eventually star in, Gerald McCoy grew up idolizing our one day Ring of Honor entrant. If this Tampa Bay Defense is going to grow to match the level of excitement the offense has been producing this year, Players like Gerald McCoy, Brian Price when he returns next year, and Cody Grimm are going to be the ones leading the way!
