Like Father, Like Son
Well, yesterday that started to come to fruition as the son of Cougar legend, Rueben Mayes, verbally commited to Wazzu.
The 6’3″, 215 lb DE prospect out of Marist High School Eugene, OR will come to Pullman to play the Leo position.  This is a stand-up, hybrid DE/Linebacker position.  Most often, you hear the name DeMarcus Ware associated with this spot.  Maybe similar to where were will see Sekop Kafusi line up!
I will have to say, I am very excited that Logan commited early in the process and didn’t drag this thing out like another legacy’s son, from my high school nontheless, did last season.  He has a ton of video on You Tube, so click here to check out all of his tape.
The younger Mayes is no stranger to Pullman, having lived there for more than ten years when his father worked for the school.  In one article, he mentioned how he cannot wait to assist the coaches in recruiting for this class.  Could their be a better person to have doing this than one who has been around our program his entire life?  First order of business, get Rueben on the phone to Bishop Sankey!!
His commitment wasn’t the only good news to trickle in yesterday.  Earlier in the afternoon Chester Su’a of  Kaimuki High School in Hawaii commited to the Cougs.  Su’a seems to be in the same mold as incoming Freshmen, Eric Oertel.
Per Cougfan, he is listed at 6’2″, 205 lbs, and runs a 4.5 40 yard dash.  According to his high school football coach, “They are going to put him at running back first and give him every opportunity and then if nothing else, they’ll move him to outside linebacker.  Chester is very flexible and just wants to play.  He’s open to either spot.”  Click here for a nice highlight tape of Su’a.
Also in the recruiting pipeline, is another Cougar legacy.  The 64th ranked OT in the land, per Scout.com, is Tyler Johnstone out of Chandler, Arizona.  Johnstone is nearing double digits in offers and is the son of two WSU grads.  According to Cougfan the family is eyeing an unofficial visit to the Palouse this summer!
Yesterday, the Seattle PI’s Go-2-Guy had a fantastic profile of Juco transfer Wade Jacobson.  Moore followed up on Jacobson’s earlier comment about wanting to be the “dirtiest” player in the Pac 10.
“I started three or four fights (in spring ball) and one during the spring game,” Jacobson said with a big smile. “That was pretty fun.  It was Mom’s Weekend and my mom was there.  She was laughing.  She knew it was me (being me).”

That is all for today, have a great weekend Cougar fans!
