Not much going on today, but a couple links caught my eye:
Willy Taveras signed with the Reds, which will likely take them out of play for Rocco Baldelli. If Rocco’s looking to sign with a team that can give him playing time so that he can prove he’s healthy, the Pirates may be the best remaining option for him of the group originally rumored to be interested (Indians, Red Sox, Yankees, Rays, and Pirates).
The Giants have agreed to give Randy Johnson at least $8 million next year. Would you trade Nate McLouth to the Giants if it meant we could pull Matt Cain in return? Not that it’s being rumored or that the Giants would even be interested, but the Giants could use some pop and they’ll likely shop Cain or Jonathan Sanchez to try and find some.
That’s actually all there realy is to talk about today. Meanwhile, I’m watching the Meineke Car Care Bowl, still adjusting to being at a school where the biggest cheer from the student section during a bowl game isn’t from anything the football team did, but rather when Roy Williams waved to everyone from his luxury box.
