Here is the latest news live from Sleep Train Arena:

  • The Sacramento Kings (18-34) begin the George Karl era tonight at Sleep Train Arena against the Boston Celtics (20-31).  After nearly two years away from the game, Karl couldn’t be more excited for his new opportunity.  “There’s no question that I’m, I don’t know what the word is, overwhelmed, a little bit by being back,” Karl said in his first pregame press conference with the team.  “Overwhelmed by the reception I’ve gotten here. You guys, usually there five or six people here, now it’s kinda crazy. You know, it’s a great adventure for me. It’s another great challenge. Coaching in the NBA is a privilege, I’m going to do it hopefully a little better than I’ve done it before. And I’m going to work hard at it, passionately, and see what happens.”
  • With options at the point guard position uncertain, the Kings signed rookie David Stockton, son of Hall of Fame guard John Stockton, to a 10-day contract from the Reno Bighorns on Friday.  Stockton is available and will wear No. 9.
  • Boston will play without their new asset.  The Celtics acquired former Kings guard Isaiah Thomas from the Phoenix Suns on Thursday for yet another former Sacramento player in Marcus Thornton and a first round pick.  Thomas has yet to clear league mandated trade hurdles.
  • The Celtics come into Sacramento short-handed in the post. Jared Sullinger (foot) and Kelly Olynyk (sprained right ankle) are both out due to injury.
