Here is the latest news live from Sleep Train Arena:

  • The Sacramento Kings (22-44) are hoping to right the ship tonight against the Los Angeles Clippers (43-25).  The Kings are reeling.  They’ve lost three straight and nine of their previous 11 games.  The Clippers have won three of five and currently hold the fifth spot in the Western Conference playoff race.
  • Rudy Gay returns tonight, but DeMarcus Cousins has been ruled out with a strained right calf.  Cousins’ injury does not appear long term.  “I talked to him today and I said, ‘Hey, I’m going to be suicidal if you don’t play Friday,'” George Karl said during pregame.  “I’m putting pressure on him.”  When asked how Cousins responded, Karl responded with, “He laughed.  He didn’t put a gun on the table (Laughing).”
  • Coby Karl, son of George Karl is in attendance tonight.  The younger Karl is in town after playing for the Reno Bighorns last night.  Coby scored nine points, grabbed five rebounds and handed out four assists in 28 minutes in the Bighorns’ 146-136 loss to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers.
  • Del Campo High School grad and Clipper Matt Barnes will miss tonight’s contest against his former club with an hamstring injury. “When there’s hamstrings and things like that, I don’t even ask,” Doc Rivers told the media of Barnes’ availability. “I want the trainers to tell me.” Another ex-King, 35-year-old Hedo Turkoglu, will start in his place.
