- The Sacramento Kings (16-25) are spiraling the drain. Losers of four straight, Sacramento is looking for something positive to turn things around. Tonight they face off against the Brooklyn Nets (17-24), who have lost eight of nine, but still cling to the eighth seed in the lackluster Eastern Conference.
- Rookie Nik Stauskas has drawn the dreaded DNP-CD (did not – play coach’s decision) in back-to-back games after playing in the Kings’ first 39 games. “He’s still working,” coach Tyrone Corbin said. “He’s still a rookie in this league. Match ups haven’t worked in his favor the last couple of games. He’s continued to work. We still love what he brings to this team and we’re looking forward to getting him back on the floor.”
- At least one opposing head coach is taking the Kings’ emphasis on increasing the offensive pace seriously. Lionel Hollins noted his concern for Sacramento’s uptempo attack: “Obviously, in transition we got to get back and stop Collison and Rudy Gay, and even the big fella, DeMarcus, can get a rebound and come out running, so we have to get back and wall off those guys.”
- Carl Landry is out for his third straight game with a sprained right wrist. DeMarcus Cousins, Rudy Gay, Ramon Sessions and Omri Casspi are all listed as probable and expected to play this evening. Deron Williams did some light shooting this morning for Brooklyn, but did not take part in shoot around and is out for the game with fractured rib cartilage.
