The Ducks got a huge boost today when Chip Kelly announced that Cliff Harris would be reinstated for the Nevada game. Last night he reinstated linebacker Kiko Alonso.
On 750 The Game, color analyst and Duck great Anthony Newman exclaimed, “The family’s intact!” It’s an emotional lift to get two playmakers back on defense, particularly Harris, who is instant momentum on the field with punt returns, breakups and interceptions. Alonso adds a physical presence at middle linebacker at 6-4 240. Fans will remember how he steer wrassled David Paulson over the middle in the Spring Game.
It remains to be seen how much they’ll play in their first game back. If Harris goes back to field a punt, the buzz in Autzen Stadium will be electric. If he busts a return, the roar will be heard in Corvallis.
Please use the space below for your pregame comments and keys to the game. My personal 2011 gameday curse continues–last week was a funeral; today it’s a wedding. Although I have heard anything yet someone in my extended family will no doubt have a baby or an emergency operation next Saturday. Thank goodness for DVR. I’ll have Jerry Allen on the radio and will check in on Twitter as often as possible.
