NXT UK is gaining some serious traction among WWE fans. The new brand has a different feel and a different flavor than other WWE programming and it’s getting quite a bit of spotlight as a result.
WWE legend and Executive Vice President of Talent Triple H recently gave fans even more reason to get excited about the new project. The Game unveiled the brand new NXT UK Tag Team Championships and declared that the time had come for talents to impress General Manager Johnny Saint.
This is surely good news for fans of tag team wrestling, who consistently long for WWE to present high quality matches in the division. The company was once known for its tag team renaissance, which saw The Hardy Boyz, Edge and Christian and The Dudley Boyz, wage war for the right to be called WWE’s best tag team.
[lawrence-related id=865196]That spirit is alive and well today, especially on SmackDown Live. The Usos, The New Day and The Bar represent the best of the best and continue to prove themselves as three of the most impressive tag teams that WWE has ever known.
It’s clear that WWE is once again serious about tag team wrestling. But fans are certainly hoping for that commitment to continue and not become sporadic, as if often the case with Vince McMahon’s company.
Introducing tag team titles in NXT UK is a great start and it definitely puts even more of an emphasis on the ambitious new brand. An early favorite to perhaps become the first tag team champions is Mustache Mountain.
Mustache Mountain is the team of Trent Seven and Tyler Bate, who have become the most popular duo in the UK brand. Their association with current NXT UK champion Pete Dunne has only reinforced their popularity. The trio is riding high atop NXT UK and it will indeed be interesting to see if they will be able to capture the new tag team championships.
