So, there is an article today on Yahoo Sports which says that the Red Sox have shifted their focus from Roy Halladay to John Lackey. Saying that the Sox feel that the Blue Jays are still asking for way too much when it comes to trading for Halladay.
There are many things about this article I don’t like….
1) John Lackey. The guy is talented, but I really don’t like him for the Red Sox. I think Lackey is a guy with an ego that has to be seen as the “ace” of the team. That just wouldn’t be the case in Boston…he’d be standing in line BEHIND Beckett and Lester. And, Lackey is just a diva. He whines, he complains….and he has been known to blame a loss on this or that. I just don’t see him fitting in and getting along in Boston. I personally think Beckett + Lackey= disaster.
2) I don’t like the article referencing trading Clay Buchholz as if it is a foregone conclusion. Boo! If the Sox are able to get a rock star in a trade, then I would accept a trade of Clay…however, I think that it really should be a last result. We know I chant NO TRADE CLAY a lot…and I think that Theo has held onto him for so long, he shouldn’t be thrown out there without something huge coming back in return.
3) Saying that it is inevitable that Halladay is going to the Yanks. It might be true, but I don’t wanna hear it. Let’s admit it, the Yankees kicked our collective asses last year…and their one weak spot was the strength of their starting rotation. You add Doc to the mix…and good lord. I am literally shaking in my boots.
So, what do peope think of the Red Sox looking past Halladay and focusing their attention to Lackey? Of course…assuming anything in this article is in fact TRUE.
