More UConn Huskies football news for you concerning injured quarterback Tyler Lorenzen and tight end Steve Brouse.
Head coach Randy Edsall said during today’s Big East Coaches teleconference that both Lorenzen and Brouse will miss at least 6-8 weeks. That means the earliest either of them would return is the game against the Syracuse Orange on November 15th.
On the season, Lorenzen is 52-of-90 for 551 yards with a touchdown and 6 interceptions. He also has 40 rushing attempts for 200 yards with 2 touchdowns. Brouse has 3 receptions for 45 yards on the season but plays an integral part in the UConn rushing game.
Normally, we would think putting the backup quarterback Zach Frazer in would cause us some concern and we’d expect to see a very heavy dose of Donald Brown. I don’t see that happening though as Frazer showed a lot of moxie out there once he got his feet under him. And now that he’s had that chance, I fully expect to be a capable leader for the Huskies for the next 6-8 weeks and maybe beyond.
