The Los Angeles Angels, Arizona Diamondbacks, and Chicago White Sox have all agreed to a three-team trade that will send outfielder Mark Trumbo to the Diamondbacks. Here are the full details of the trade:
White Sox receive:
- Adam Eaton
Angels receive:
- Tyler Skaggs
- Hector Santiago
Diamondbacks receive:
- Mark Trumbo
- Player to be named later
The White Sox gave up pitcher Hector Santiago in this deal, and they acquired Adam Eaton. Eaton played in 66 games with the Diamondbacks last season. He had a slash line of .252/.314/.360, which is not very good at all. He also had three home runs and 22 runs batted in. He played very poor defense as well, so he’s not too much of a help to this White Sox team. The pitcher that they gave up in this deal, Hector Santiago, had a pretty good season last year; he had an earned run average of 3.56, which is good. I think that this was a bad move by the White Sox, giving up a solid relief pitcher for a mediocre outfielder in Adam Eaton is not a smart thing to do.
The Angels gave up Mark Trumbo in this deal, and they acquired Tyler Skaggs and Hector Santiago. Tyler Skaggs is a 22 year old left handed pitcher that has a very high upside, he’s certainly a great person to have on your team. Hector Santiago, as I have previously stated, is a solid left handed relief pitcher. He will help the Angels’ bullpen quite a bit. I like this deal for the Angels a lot. They did give up a great player in Mark Trumbo, but they got two young, solid left handed pitchers in Hector Santiago and Tyler Skaggs.
The Diamondbacks gave up Tyler Skaggs in this deal, and they acquired powerful outfielder Mark Trumbo. Trumbo has some problems, but there are also some great things about him. One problem is that he had a batting average of .234 last season, which is very bad. One even bigger problem with Trumbo is that he had an on base percentage of .294 last season, which is terrible. He did hit 34 home runs, and he did have 100 runs batted in, so he’s still a pretty good player overall. Tyler Skaggs, the pitcher that the Diamondbacks gave up in this deal, is a 22 year old left handed pitcher with a very high upside. He’s a pretty big prospect, there’s no doubt that it was tough for the Diamondbacks to part ways with him. I am not a fan of this deal by the Diamondbacks. Sure, Mark Trumbo is a pretty good player, but I wouldn’t give up Tyler Skaggs for him.
