Brandon Ingram is going to be a Los Angeles Laker. How does he fit in Hollywood?
The Player: Brandon Ingram is tall, long, and rail-thin. While visually he draws comparisons to Kevin Durant as a thin, lanky wing draining shots from outside, he isn’t on Durant’s level as a player. That doesn’t mean he won’t be a star, because he has all of the skills to become just that. He can hit three-pointers and mid-range jumpers with ease, has a beautiful finger roll, and even shows fluidity around the basket. If he can add some weight and strength to his frame, Ingram will be in the All Star conversation not too far down the road.
The Fit: The Los Angeles Lakers had such a hole at small forward last year that Kobe Bryant and Metta World Peace tag-teamed the position. Their combined age is 10 billion. Brandon Ingram would step in immediately and provide both shooting and defense from the wing. He could lock down that position for the next 15 years for the purple and gold. He would join a young core that includes D’Angelo Russell, Jordan Clarkson, Larry Nance, and Julius Randle.
The Spot: Starting small forward
The Grade: A
