The Los Angeles Rams got a bit of help in the 2017 NFL Draft on Friday.

The NFL awarded compensatory draft choices to 16 teams, including the Rams, according to NFL.com.

Under the rules for compensatory draft selections, a team losing more or better compensatory free agents than it acquires in the previous year is eligible to receive compensatory draft picks.

The compensatory picks will be positioned within the third through seventh rounds based on the value of the compensatory free agents lost.

Compensatory free agents are determined by a formula based on salary, playing time and postseason honors. The formula was developed by the NFL Management Council. Not every free agent lost or signed by a club is covered by this formula.

Los Angeles earned two picks, the No. 36 pick in the third round (No. 100 overall) and the 35th pick in the fourth round (No. 141 overall). The third-round selection, however, automatically goes to the Tennessee Titans to complete the deal last year in which the Rams acquired the No. 1 overall pick from the Titans, according to theRams.com insider Myles Simmons’ Twitter (h/t RamsWire):

That ended up being quarterback Jared Goff.

The added pick gives Los Angeles eight for the draft from April 27-29. The Rams, however, still lack a first-round selection.

RamsWire reported that L.A. lost Nick Fairley, Janoris Jenkins and Rodney McLeod in 2016 free agency.
