The Los Angeles Rams changed up the coaching staff for good as they said goodbye to Jeff Fisher and brought in young but ready to go Sean McVay. With the return of the Los Angeles Rams, McVay wasted no time in rebranding the team for the better good. First, he brought in a leader with a championship mindset of defensive coordinator Wade Phillips.
Los Angeles Rams coach Sean McVay had his sights set on Phillips from the very beginning, and the two very different men look to be a match made in football heaven.
Phillips, who spoke with a KHOU in Houston at the Super Bowl festivities, was sincere in his excitement about getting to work with the NFL’s youngest head coach in history.
“He’s the youngest coach, but he’s an outstanding young coach,” Phillips said on Monday. “I’m looking forward to getting started.” (via KHOU.com)
Having other coaches who have been in the league for years show the amount of respect they have for the youngest coach shows great value in McVay. Next, the signing of multiple free agents with already playoff experience and Super Bowl wins shows McVay is ready to bring a playoff mentality to the Los Angeles Rams.
Another small but important factor Sean Mcvay has done so far was bringing back Eric Dickerson. Alden Gonzalez of ESPN.com reported that the Rams rookie head coach reached out to the Hall of Famer and former Rams running back. That was just the first of multiple conversations between the two. They also have spoken on the phone and run into each other at the Super Bowl and the NFL Scouting Combine.
No more close minded people on the sideline (Cough Jeff Fisher) all former Rams are welcome to cheer on a soon to be playoff ready team.
The Los Angeles Rams organization is changing for good.
