Lots of Bad Red Sox News

Getting swept by Oakland was not the end of bad news for Red Sox fans.  Since the team has returned home there has been one bad story after another.  Here is the latest in the downward spiral.

Dutin Pedroia is headed to the DL after re-injuirng his thumb.  Under the best case senario he will be out until July 19th.

Daniel Bard faced a major setback in his progress out of the bullpen with the PawSox last night.  He came into the game and pitched to four batters and failed to get an out.  He hit a batter, gave up a double, hit another batter and then gave up a single.

David Ortiz is contiuing with the “looking elsewhere’ storyline.  He had this to say today: “Man, the way I feel this year,” Big Papi said in a recent wide-ranging interview with the Herald, “I feel like I can go play first base in the National League.”

And the worst news of the day is this:

Carl Crawford was heckeled by a racist fan before last night’s rehab game:  “Talking about that guy, he actually called me a racial slur to begin the game.”
