Love on etiquette training

The NBA Rookie Transition Program—in the news this week for booting Darrell Arthur and Mario Chalmers for allegedly smoking marijuana and having female visitors into Arthur’s hotel room—held their etiquette training course today. Here were the top five lessons learned…

1. Always, always eat before you leave home for a business meal.
It
is not polite to arrive famished and wolf down your food. "What if I
eat before and I’m still hungry and I notice I’m eating quicker than
everyone else? Should I move food around my plate and slow down my
pace?," asked Kevin Love. Yes, he was told. Yes you should.

When charm school was complete, Love told ESPNTheMag.com that even
though he had come into today’s event with "not exactly an open mind,"
he found these tips to be invaluable. "Buddies might call me up tonight
and say, ‘Man, it’s a bummer you’ve got to go through all these boring
seminars,’" said Love. "But honestly, this has been helpful because,
hey, I’m a hungry 19-year-old guy. I don’t want to be a slob."
