In what can only be described as a buzzkill, 2008 US Olympian Luis Yanez has been officially scratched from Saturday night’s Paulie Ayala Production “Battle of DFW” boxing card. Yanez, who was initially scheduled to headline the event in a grudge match against Rafael Casias, was scratched from the card when a replacement fighter could not be brought in.
While the subtraction of Yanez from the card is without question a damper to the night’s proceedings. PAP has managed to find an acceptable replacement as a Gilbert Vera – Larry Smith bout will now headline the evening’s fight card.
In similar news, heralded former amateur Ray Ximinez Jr. was also forced to scrap his scheduled bout on the card when no suitable opponent could be found to take on the young fighter.
