Luke Lawton released

In a move that should surprise almost no one, Luke Lawton was released by the Oakland Raiders today as his suspension for using performance enhancing drugs was being lifted.

Lawton joined the Raiders prior to the 2008 season. He played in 16 games that season starting seven. In 2009, he played in 13 games, but only had three starts. He was suspended for the final two games of the ’09 season and the first two games of 2010.

He complained in preseason that he wasn’t given enough reps. He was outplayed by Marcel Reece who made the team and Manase Tonga who ended up on the practice squad. The Raiders didn’t have to make a decision on him until his suspension was lifted.
