I’m starting to get the impression Luke Scott has a hard time making friends.
The former Major Leaguer who ESPN’s Amy K. Nelson once referred to as “a right-wing nut, a borderline racist and a loudmouth redneck ballplayer” has been released by the SK Wyverns for allegedly being “disrespectful” to coach Lee Man-soo.
According to the Korean Times, the outfielder called Lee both a “coward” and a “liar” after the team placed him on the KBO equivalent of the disabled list. Scott’s stance is that he knows his physical condition and manages his foot issues in his own way. Evidently, the team disagreed with his methods.
But could this whole thing just be a big misunderstanding?
“For the past few years,” our buddy Dan Kurtz from mykbo.net said, “I have been wanting to see the KBO and their teams make sure all the players (Korean and import players) are educated about on-field/off-field cultural differences and similarities.”
Hold on…you mean to tell me Luke Scott didn’t take it upon himself to learn the cultural differences between the United States and Korea? Color me shocked.
