Lurie: Reid to Coach in 2012
Just announced, Andy Reid will remain as the Eagles head coach for the 2012-2013 season. Reid, who coached the Eagles in their dismal 8-8 season, looks to turn the “Dream Team”, as labeled by back-up quarterback, Vince Young, into a winning team in reality. Criticism for Coach Reid escalated before the season commenced when he promoted former offensive line coach, Juan Castillo, to defensive coordinator in place of former Eagles defensive coordinator, Sean McDermott, who is now the defensive coordinator for the Carolina Panthers. In addition, the Eagles, usually the dominant team in the NFC East, finished the season 3rd, coming up short in their playoff hopes.

Now that Andy Reid has been confirmed to coach the Eagles in this upcoming season, questions as to what other possible moves are necessary take the front seat, such as who will fill the defensive coordinator position, and whether players such as Desean Jackson and Asante Samuel will return to the team next year. Possible candidates for the defensive coordinator position includes former head coach, Steve Spagnuolo, who was recently fired by the Saint Louis Rams.

News of Reid’s return came just as the news of Norv Turner’s return to the San Diego Chargers and the return of Lovie Smith to the Chicago Bears broke. Can the 14 year Eagles head coach finally make the Eagles dream a reality? Philly fans will see as the crucial off-season approaches.
