Way back in 2008 I wrote a post entitled “Is This the End of the Line For Maple Bats.” Here we are, two years later and we finally have an answer: Yes, sort of. Under the new collective bargaining agreement no new MLB players can use maple bats but if a current player uses one they may continue to do so. In other words, maple bats are slowly being phased out of Major League Baseball which is a good think considering the injury potential.
