I know Starbury is crazy, but he did say share some intelligent thoughts with the Marc Berman of the New York Post:
"I'm just talking as a fan and New Yorker who grew up loving the
Knicks: why would I give you my money to watch them?" Marbury told The
Post. "This is atrocious. Guys coming down court, just raising up
3-pointers from anywhere. The coaching is horrible. What kind of
coaching is this?
"LeBron isn't coming to a rebuilding team," Marbury said. "Why would he
come to a rebuilding team? It makes no sense. Is this franchise built
to win a championship or to make money?"
He's right. I don't get the fascination with Mike D'Antoni. He excelled with a Suns teams that was stacked with offensive talent. I understand the Knicks roster is a mess. But if you don't have the horses to run the system (which he clearly doesn't), then shouldn't you adapt to the players you have? Ask Pat Riley. Did he bring the Lakers "Showtime" to NY? No, he built a team around Patrick Ewing and defense.
There's no mention of his recent tweets criticizing Paul Pierce. I emailed Berman our story a few days ago. Either Marbury refused to answer, or Berman didn't ask.
