Today’s the day when the world of college basketball turns into the world of March Madness. From a field of 68, teams will battle it out through the end of March to see who will be crowned the champions of the college basketball world. For most teams, they booked their tickets to the big dance two days ago on Selection Sunday. But for some teams, they still need one more victory to enter the tournament.

Four games are slated for this evening, with the first two being played just before 7:00 PM. The University of New Orleans plays in the first game and is just one of many Cinderella stories. Their program was almost wiped out due to Hurricane Katrina and almost dropped out of Division I. The team they’re against, Mount St. Mary’s, has a leading scorer reminiscent of Boston’s star, Isaiah Thomas. Junior Robinson only stands 5’5″.

In the later games, local Providence College will have to get by USC. USC got off to a hot start, winning 14 straight. In their next 19, they barely broke .500. Providence will look to improve on their tournament run last year, where they nearly took out perennial powerhouse UNC.

As the games tip off tonight, there will be a lot of discussion as to who will come out on top. Make sure to check back frequently for updates from the latest games at TTownsports.com
