Coach Westphal on having to waive Marcus Landry, Connor Atchley and Joe Crawford today:
“It’s always tough when you have to do that. We have a lot of respect for those three players and I wouldn’t be surprised to see one or all of them either land back with us at some point or in the league for sure.”
It’s an unenviable job to have to tell someone that they’re basketball dreams have been dealt a severe blow. Marcus Landry made a very nice run at a roster spot but got lost in the shuffle with Greene, Casspi, Wright and Garcia. Joe Crawford lost out to a more seasoned Luther Head but showed a very nice ability to lead while on the floor. Connor Atchley can hit from anywhere on the floor but Darnell Jackson is a tougher defensive and rebounding presence.
All three players are extremely likable off the court and we here at The Purple Panjandrum wish them the best. Don’t be surprised to see one or more of these guys playing up in Reno for the Kings NBDL affiliate.
