Marlins Notch Up Yet Another Losing Season

-16

Defeat at the hands of the Washington Nationals on Sunday finally saw the Miami Marlins confirm what the vast majority of baseball fans across the world had long been suspecting: that they have extended their run of consecutive losing seasons to the unenviable total of seven.

At the end of that loss, the franchise’s losing record continued to rise, and with just a matter of weeks remaining before the postseason begins, there just aren’t enough games left to undo the damage of what has been yet another unremarkable campaign for the players and fans alike.

Manager Dan Jennings attributed this most recent losing season to a number of different factors, but will have to accept that the buck ultimately stops with him, and as such, he needs to find a way to turn around this famous franchise’s ailing fortunes.

Jennings has been under pressure since his bizarre appointment – mainly because he came to the post without previous managerial experience or an illustrious playing career – that would undoubtedly help buy him time when things get tough, and the Marlins boss will probably feel that he is doing the best that he can with the cards he has been dealt.

But with every department of the squad failing to deliver, and punters visiting the likes of Betfair.com to back every team but the Marlins for success, Jennings will be aware that he has to win over large sections of the fans as well as try ensure he is still in his job come the start of next season.

With some big games still remaining for the Marlins during the remainder of the regular season before the team can go off and lick their wounds, it is clear that pride will be the main motivator for Jennings and his shell-shocked players come the winter.
