Mathis: Player of the Month

Indianapolis Colts defensive end Robert Mathis has been named the AFC Defensive Player of the Month.

Mathis shared the conference lead with 4 1/2 sacks in five November wins, adding 16 tackles and two forced fumbles. He had a key sack-and-strip of Houston quarterback Matt Schaub in last Sunday’s win over the Texans and two sacks of New England quarterback Tom Brady on Nov. 15.

The player of the month recognition is the first of Mathis’ career.
