Back in 2018, WWE star Matt Hardy appeared to transition from his role as an in-ring competitor in WWE to a potential backstage producer, as injuries sustained throughout his career seemed to put an end to his wrestling career.

At one point in 2018, WWE tested out Hardy in a backstage capacity, leading many fans to believe that he might be accepting a job in the company as an agent.

In a big update on his current status, Matt Hardy himself has issued a Tweet denying he is retired from in-ring competition, and furthered that he has been medically cleared to return to the ring.

”I’ve worked my ass off to rehabilitate and have physically been greenlit”, Tweeted Hardy. He went on to say that he is in the “best shape” he has been in in years, and claims he has dropped some weight.

As for Matt Hardy’s in-ring career in WWE, he made no mention of actually returning to the ring, and WWE has made no announcement regarding bringing him back to television. Based on Hardy’s latest Tweet, it does appear he has no intention of retiring anytime soon, so a return to the ring could be a likely possibility if he was in fact cleared by WWE doctors.

Prior to Hardy taking time off in 2018 to heal up from his injuries, which included issues with his lower back and spine, Hardy was part of a Tag Team with Bray Wyatt, and the two were able to win the WWE Raw tag team titles together.

Wyatt also remains off WWE TV, and has been teasing his return to the company in recent weeks and months. As of now, there is no word on when either Hardy or Wyatt might return to TV, and if the duo does return, it is not known if WWE has plans to have them compete once again as a tag team.
