Not long ago, Matt Harvey was heavily criticized by New York radio host Joe Benigno for showing up at a Knicks game.

“This guy’s sitting there at courtside,” Benigno bitched.  “I don’t need to see my star pitcher, who’s not going to pitch at all this year…I don’t need to see him canoodling with his girlfriend at courtside at the Knick game.  You know what I’m sayin’?”

Monday night, the New York Mets pitcher again popped up at Madison Square Garden.  But, this time, it was Game Three of the Stanley Cup Final and his partner-in-crime?  “Tonight Show” host Jimmy Fallon.

We’ll see what Benigno has to say.

Harvey, who started last year’s All-Star Game hasn’t pitched since suffering an arm injury in August.  The Mets ace was expected to throw off the mound Tuesday, but the team put the plan on hold.

“He’s fine,” a team source said. “It’s nothing physical, it’s just a plan to be more cautious.”

The 25-year-old is hoping to be back in the Majors by the end of this season. The Mets, however, are focused on getting Harvey back for Opening Day 2015.
