Matt Rhule and Temple agree to a 6-year extension

Temple fans can exhale now because Matt Rhule is staying at Temple after signing a 6-year extension through 2021 and he is getting a well-deserved pay raise after what he and his players have accomplished this season. Temple has yet to disclose the financial terms of the contract, but it does include facilities commitment expected from Temple. Rhule did sign a contract extension in the summer through 2021 so the new deal covers the same length, but with more benefits you can say. Matt Rhule believed in Temple from the start and he is guy, who truly gets it and wants to put Temple football on the map for good.

Matt Rhule has led Temple to its best season ever and he’s done it by building a stable environment around the program and getting his players to buy into his philosophy of what’s next. A lot coaches would think about using Temple as a stepping stone to get to a higher-paying job like Steve Addazio did, but Matt Rhule is set on legitimatizing this football program and leading to continued success. Regarding the contract extension, Matt Rhule had this to say: “While this has been such a special season, there is still so much more that Temple football can accomplish.” “I am proud to coach such incredible student-athletes and I am honored to continue to be apart of the Temple community.” Philadelphia has longed for a college football program to get behind and Temple can be that program with Matt Rhule leading the charge.

I can’t express how happy I am Temple found a way to keep Matt Rhule because he can transform this program into something great and continue build off the success from this year. With the new contract out the way, Temple can have all its focus on their bowl game against Toledo, hoping to give Matt Rhule his first bowl game victory to end the season on a high note.
